New Clients
New clients are most welcome to make contact and enquire about counselling and to see if we are a good fit to work together.
Counselling can be a bit daunting if you’ve never had therapy before. It’s important to come with an open mind and an honest approach so that we can do the best we can to help you in whatever circumstances bring you here.
I am currently only taking on adult clients with or without a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. Please note I am not a bulk-billing service so even with a GP’s referral there will still be an out-of-pocket expense. If you don’t wish to speak with your GP you may be able to claim a rebate from your private health fund if you have psychology in your Extras cover – it is always best to check with your fund first.
A Mental Health Care Plan will require you to make a longer appointment with your GP and chat to them about why you would like to attend counselling. They will then complete a MHCP with the details you discuss and a recommendation of services that would support you. If you receive a MHCP you will be entitled to claim Medicare rebates for an initial 6 visits with a psychologist and then after we complete a review we can request the plan be extended for a further 4 sessions – giving you 10 sessions in a calendar year. Payment for your psychological therapy will be required at the end of our session and I will be able to assist in processing the Medicare rebate.
Your GP may give you the referral and ask for you to make contact with me, or the GP make send the referral directly to me and ask me to contact you to organise an agreed appointment time.
It is important to note that I am not registered to take WorkCover, TAC or NDIS clients. Also please note that access to the counselling room is via stairs with no disability access.
