We are all a work in progress. Life changes – that’s the challenge and the beauty
Globally we have a growing rate of childhood and adult mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
Never before has there been such a high rate of both parents working having to outsource the care of their children to extended family or carers and never before have parents felt the pressure and scrutiny of their parenting style; feeling the need to be seen to be parenting perfectly.
Parents are feeling the social pressures and judgments of their decisions and of their children’s behaviour and achievements.
My mission is to equip parents, to manage those demands. To support and guide them in fixing their own oxygen mask first so that they are less stressed, happier and energised to cope with the demands of parenting in the 21st Century. I want parents to thrive, because when parents thrive their children flourish.
I am a nationally registered psychologist with over 25 years experience. I hold a Master in Applied Positive Psychology and certificates in Positive Psychology Coaching, Positive Psychology in Education and Mindfulness-based Emotional Balance.
After using mindfulness in counselling/therapy for many years, in 2012 I decided to become a trained meditation teacher.
I have worked across all education sectors - the Department of Education, Catholic Education Office, the Centre for Strategic Education and with several Independent Schools. I have also worked in workplaces including Air Liquide, Australia Post and the financial industry; along with government departments such as the Department of Health and Human Services, the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Defence. I have especially enjoyed my work in completing personality assessments and reports for the Australian Antarctic Division.
I have presented many times at conferences in Australia and internationally in Budapest, Montreal and Singapore.
