Hi, I'm Therese and I've been a perfectionist parent thinking everything needed to be done and done well. I have found myself doing everything for others and leaving myself last.
As a mother of 3 children under 4yrs I used to be exhausted, second-guessing myself, never enough time for me and pushing my anxieties on to my kids. I used to be late for everything and all they ever heard was "hurry up", "get in the car", "we are going to be late". I seem to spend all my time hurrying through life. I thought this what being a mother was all about. In order to feel in control I had to do everything just 'right'. I had to hang the washing out a certain way - all in order. I became inflexible with things. The toilet roll had to go over not under. I would always get dressed left side first or else it felt wrong. My children had to eat the 'right' food, no takeaways or fast food for them, that weren’t healthy enough. I worked out and kept myself fit and trim. Little did I know I was developing a deep perfectionism and everything needed to be at my standard or else it was wrong.
I have taken what I have lived as that busy mother of 3 rushing through life, with what I have learned over my 25years as a psychologist identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that keep us stuck. I have put these into a program with what I love - mindfulness, meditation, health and wellbeing, gratitude, empathy, fun and joy. This program is to help you create your own wellbeing strategy for you and your family.

It is hard to see the solutions when you are in it. I needed to step back, realise what was happening and start to explore what strategies do young mothers need to not just survive, but to thrive in their parenting.
I have searched through research papers on resilience, gratitude, wellbeing, joy and play. I have learnt about mindfulness and been trained as a meditation teacher so that I can bring the best of what meditation and mindfulness has to offer in an everyday, practical way to change your life.
I had no idea that in putting these things together I would discover my own methodology that works to change people's lives.
